At Picturesque Travel, we aim to provide a welcoming, personal, and enriching experience for every guest. To ensure clarity and smooth planning for all tours – including our Highlights Tours, In Context Tours, and Bespoke Tours – please review the following booking policy before confirming your reservation.
1. Making a Booking
- Bookings can be made through our website by clicking the “Book now” button on every tour, via our contact form, or by email.
- A booking is considered confirmed once you receive email confirmation from Picturesque Travel. Please be sure to check your junk folder.
- For bespoke tours, additional consultation may be required before confirmation.
2. Payments
- Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Payments are accepted via the methods listed at checkout.
- Bespoke tours may require a non‑refundable planning deposit, which will be communicated during the consultation process.
3. Cancellations by the Customer
We understand that plans change. Our cancellation terms are:
Standard Tours (Highlights & In Context Tours)
- For a full refund: you must cancel at least 7 days before the activity is scheduled to start.
Bespoke Tours
- Planning deposits are non‑refundable.
- If the tour has been fully confirmed:
- More than 7 days before the tour: 50% refund (excluding deposit).
- Less than 7 days before the tour: No refund.
4. Cancellations by Picturesque Travel
In the unlikely event that we must cancel a tour due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., severe weather, guide illness, venue closures):
- You will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule.
- For bespoke tours, planning deposits will be refunded only if the cancellation is made by us.
We are committed to ensuring your experience is positive and will always communicate cancellations as early as possible.
5. Late Arrivals
- Tours begin promptly at the scheduled time.
- If you arrive late, the tour may need to proceed without you to avoid disruption.
- No refunds are provided for missed tours due to late arrival.
6. Accessibility & Special Requirements
Picturesque Travel aims to provide inclusive experiences. If you have accessibility needs or special requests:
- Please inform us at the time of booking.
- We will do our best to accommodate your requirements or suggest suitable alternatives.
7. Safety & Conduct
- Guests are expected to behave respectfully toward guides, venues, and other participants.
- Picturesque Travel reserves the right to remove any participant whose behaviour is unsafe or disruptive.
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
8. Weather Policy
Edinburgh, and Scotland generally, is known for changeable weather. Tours generally proceed in rain or shine.
However, in cases of extreme weather where safety is compromised, we may reschedule or cancel with a full refund.
9. Photography & Media
- Guests are welcome to take photographs during tours unless restricted by venues.
- Picturesque Travel may take photographs for promotional use; please let us know if you prefer not to appear in any images.
